This interactive installation uses ambient noise levels within an enclosed space in order to activate suspended orbs of light to move in a sine wave. As the noise volume of the space increases or decreases, the orbs move faster or slower in response.
This interactive installation fuses sound, light, and people to create a dynamic architectural piece that kinetically responds to the energy of its users. To do so, the installation measures the ambient noise levels within an enclosed public space in order to activate suspended orbs of light to move in a glowing sinuous wave. Based on the frequency of sound in the room, the movement of the light orbs will vary; as the volume of ambient noise increases or decreases, the orbs will either speed up or slow down in response. The resultant effect is a completely responsive ceiling condition of undulating movement that continuously evolves as users create various types of noise in the space.
